Create your account

Open in InklingSign up with an email address and a password, confirm the link Inkling emails you, and sign in; a question you typed before signing in is kept in that tab and asked once you’re in.
Before you start
You need an email address you can open now, because the confirmation link expires after 24 hours. There is no card to enter: every account starts on the Free plan.
Create the account
- Open Create account. From the sign-in page, choose the Create account tab next to Sign in.
- Fill in Email and Password. A password needs 8–128 characters, and as the form says, “Length is the only rule — no symbols required.”
- If you like, fill in Display name (optional). It is the name Inkling greets you by on the home page, and only you see it.
- Tick “I have read and accept the Terms of Service and the Privacy Notice.” This box is required.
- Decide on the second box. It is optional and never ticked for you: it lets Inkling analyse how you use the product to personalise what you’re shown, and send you occasional product news and offers by email. Inkling works the same either way.
- Press Create account. The button reads “Creating the account…” while it works.
Confirm your email address
The page changes to Check your inbox, with the note “Signing in will not work until the address is confirmed. Nothing has been charged and nothing is running yet.”
- Open the email titled “Confirm your email address” and press Confirm email address.
- The link opens a page that reads Email verified. Press Sign in.
No email? Check your spam folder, then press Send the link again on the Check your inbox page. A link works once. If it has expired or been used, the page says This link is no longer usable: enter your email address and press Send a new link.
- Open Sign in.
- Enter your Email and Password, and press Continue.
If you try before confirming, Inkling says “Confirm your email address before signing in. Request a new link if the first one expired.” and offers Send a new link. Forgotten your password? Use Forgot? beside the password field; Sign in, passwords and signing out has the steps.
If you asked before signing in
Asking needs an account. If you type a question while signed out and press Ask, Inkling shows “Sign in to ask a question. Your question has been kept.” with a Sign in button.
- The question is kept in that browser tab, with the depth you chose. Sign in from the same tab and Inkling asks it for you in a new discussion.
- If you have to create the account first, the confirmation link opens in a new tab. Once the address is confirmed, go back to the tab you asked in and press Sign in after “Already confirmed it?”. The question is asked from there.
- Closing the tab you asked in lets the question go.
