There is no price and no checkout: a person reviews each request and switches Pro on by hand. Until then your account stays on Free, which is not a trial: it currently includes unlimited Quick answers, 5 Pro searches a day and 1 research report a month. Request Pro access

Pro is in early access: you send a short request, a person reviews it, and Pro is switched on for your account at no charge.

Before you start

  • Have a free Inkling account. Pro is switched on for an account, so make the request with the email address you sign in with.
  • Think about what you want to use Inkling for. A few lines are the whole application.
  • See what Pro adds in Free and Pro.

Send a request

  1. Press Request Pro access wherever you meet it: in Settings › Plan and usage (“Request Pro access →”), on the card at the foot of Discussions, or on any panel that tells you a feature is Pro. The Pro column on Inkling’s Pricing page says Request early access and goes to the same place. You can also open the request form directly.
  2. The contact form opens with Pro early access already chosen under What would you like to discuss?
  3. Fill in Name and Email. Company (optional) can stay empty.
  4. In Message, answer the prompt “What are you hoping to do with Inkling?”. The message needs at least 10 characters and can be up to 4,000.
  5. Press Send message.

What you’ll see

The form is replaced by Message received: “Thanks, [your name].” and “Your note is with the Inkling team. We will reply to [your email address].” Back to Inkling takes you home.

As the Pricing page puts it, “We review requests and enable access manually.” The reply comes by email.

When Pro is switched on

  • You get an email with the subject “Your Inkling plan is now Pro”. It says “Your Inkling account is now on the Pro plan.” If your access has an end date, it adds “Your Pro access runs until [the end date].” The See your plan button opens your plan.
  • The change applies to your account straight away. Plan and usage shows the Pro allowances, and once Inkling reloads, the menu with your name shows Pro in gold under your email address.
  • Nothing is charged and no subscription is created.

If Pro access ends

Your account goes back to the Free allowances, and Inkling emails you:

  • If your access reaches its end date, the subject is “Your Pro access ended on [the end date]”, and the email says “Your account stays open, and the link shows what your plan includes now.”
  • If Pro is switched off before then, the subject is “Your Inkling plan has changed to Free”.

If you set up a handle while you had Pro, see Your handle.

Good to know

  • Buildersoft’s Terms describe early access this way: it is free unless both sides expressly agree otherwise, creates no paid subscription, and may be limited, changed or withdrawn while Pro is being prepared.
  • “Pro” in a request means the plan. The Pro depth in the ask box is already on Free, currently 5 times a day; see Choose a depth.
  • The same contact form handles other questions too; choose a different topic under What would you like to discuss? See Troubleshooting and contact.
