Every account starts on Free, which is not a trial; Pro adds more research, second opinions, figures, document translation and a public handle, and is currently in early access.

The plan and the depth called Pro

“Pro” names 2 different things in Inkling:

  • Pro search is the middle stop of the depth switch in the ask box: Quick, Pro, Research. Free includes some Pro searches every day.
  • The Pro plan is what this article compares with Free.

Free can use all 3 depths. On Free, a small gold dot marks Pro and Research, which are metered. A depth is how hard Inkling works on one question; a plan is what your account includes. See Choose a depth.

What each plan includes

These are the current allowances. Buildersoft can change them, and Plan and usage always shows the numbers on your own account.

Daily allowances reset at 00:00 UTC and monthly ones at 00:00 UTC on the 1st. How each one is counted is in Allowances, resets and refunds.

On both plans

  • Asking at every depth, with follow-ups, in discussions.
  • Sharing an answer or a discussion as a public page, and Export PDF of your discussions.
  • Notes, todos and Inkling’s actions on a note. Hand to Inkling works on both plans and uses 1 Pro search.
  • Translate for text, in 44 languages.
  • System prompts, and the Porcelain and Full ink themes.

Only on Pro

  • Second opinion: your question answered again by a separate model, with the points where the two agree and differ marked.
  • Diagrams and charts: up to 2 figures in an answer at Pro or Research depth, when the topic has a structure worth drawing, and editing them.
  • Document translation: Word, PowerPoint and Excel translated in place, and PDFs as Word files.
  • Your handle: a public name and a profile page for the pages you publish.

On Free, each of these shows a short explanation in place of the feature, such as “Documents are Pro” or “Second opinions are a Pro feature.”, with Request Pro access. Nothing is uploaded or charged before you see it.

How to request Pro

Pro is in early access. There is no price and no checkout. You send a request, a person reviews it, and Pro is switched on for your account; the request creates no subscription and nothing is charged. See Request Pro access.

Good to know

  • Free has no end date. Quick answers stay unlimited and unmetered.
  • “Unlimited” means no daily or monthly allowance. A fair-use brake on requests a minute still applies on both plans; see Allowances, resets and refunds.
  • The tier on an answer’s stamp, such as “Frontier tier”, describes how that one answer was served. It is not a plan.
